This cabin was built in 1929 on Island Lake south of Manhattan Beach and was part of the original Kent Atwater’s resort. The property was sold to Dave and Donna Claypool who in the spring of 2017, donated the log cabin and an outbuilding to the Crosslake Historical Society.
The buildings were moved to the village site and over the summer the cabin and the outbuilding had been annexed and renovation of the two buildings was started. The building was opened to the public in 2019 and is used as an information center and gift store where you can purchase books, toys, candy and more. You can also purchase “A Taste of History” that contains countless stories from Crosslake’s past. Here you can also take advantage of the Olde Time Photo Booth as you and your family dress up in costumes provided and set out to take photos throughout the Village.
